đź’Ś Purposed Women Weekly Devotional: Draw Near With Confidence

Theme: Draw Near With Confidence

Scripture: ““Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”

Hebrews 10:19–22 (NKJV)

Reflection

Have you ever felt like you needed to get yourself together before approaching God?

Maybe you've struggled with guilt over a past mistake, felt distant because your prayer life hasn't been consistent, or convinced yourself that you needed to become a better version of yourself before entering His presence.

But Hebrews 10:19–22 reminds us of something powerful: Jesus has already made a way for us to draw near.

Under the old covenant, access to the Most Holy Place was restricted. Only the high priest could enter, and only once a year, with sacrificial blood.

But through His sacrifice, Jesus opened a new and living way into God's presence.

The veil that once represented separation no longer stands between us and God.

And here's what makes this passage so beautiful: Scripture doesn't simply tell us that we can approach God. It invites us to draw near with a true heart and full assurance of faith.

That means we don't have to approach Him trembling with uncertainty about whether we're welcome.

We can come confidently...not because we've done everything right, but because Jesus has done what we never could.

Sometimes, though, we continue living as if the veil is still there.

We allow shame to keep us silent.

We allow fear to keep us distant.

We allow condemnation to convince us we're unworthy.

We allow our imperfections to become excuses for avoiding His presence.

But confidence in God's presence isn't about believing we're perfect. It's about trusting that Christ's sacrifice is sufficient.

And drawing near doesn't mean pretending everything is fine. It means coming honestly...with our questions, weaknesses, struggles, and even our repentance...knowing that we have a High Priest who has made a way for us.

Purposed Woman, stop allowing what Jesus has already dealt with to keep you from the presence He has already opened to you.

You don't have to earn your way into His presence through perfect prayers, perfect behavior, or perfect circumstances.

Come with a sincere heart. Come believing His Word. Come ready to surrender what you've been carrying.

The veil has been opened. The invitation has been extended. Now draw near. đź’•

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for making a way for me to enter Your presence through Jesus Christ.

Forgive me for the times I've allowed fear, shame, guilt, or insecurity to keep me at a distance.

Help me understand the fullness of what Christ accomplished through His sacrifice. Teach me to approach You with a sincere heart, unwavering faith, and confidence in Your grace.

Remove every barrier I've allowed to remain in my heart, and draw me into deeper intimacy with You.

May I never take Your presence for granted, but continually respond to Your invitation to draw near.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Application

This week, ask yourself:

“What has been keeping me from drawing near to God with confidence?”

Is it guilt? Fear? Distraction? Shame? Or the feeling that you haven't been doing enough spiritually?

Identify one thing that has created distance in your relationship with God.

Then intentionally set aside time each day to enter His presence through prayer and Scripture...not out of obligation, but because you have been invited.

As you pray, remind yourself:

“Because of Jesus, I have access. I don't have to hide. I can draw near.”

Remember:

You don't have to earn access to a presence Jesus already made available to you.

The veil is no longer your barrier. Through Christ, you have been invited to come boldly, sincerely, and confidently before God.

Don't stand at a distance when Jesus has made a way for you to draw near. ✨

In Luke 10:19, Jesus doesn't tell His disciples to find authority, earn it, or prove themselves worthy of it. He says, “I give you the authority.” It was already theirs because of the One who gave it to them....
